Coast Guard Spouses' Club of Washington, D.C.
Join * Connect * Support

The Coast Guard Spouses' Club is a social and philanthropic club.  Our mission is to provide a friendly atmosphere to support the morale and well being of our Coast Guard families, and to engage in the charitable and social activities advocated by the membership. The club provides camaraderie and support to Coast Guard Spouses throughout the National Capital Region and surrounding areas, including, but not limited to D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia. To join the club, please visit the membership page. We would love to hear from you!

Our Event Philosophy

Our social calendar includes activities unique to the nation’s capital and the diversity of our membership.  Our annual Welcome Aboard at the Commandant’s Quarters and our Holiday Tour of the White House are two of our most popular events. Through zip code connection groups, we offer several daytime, evening, weekend, and some child-friendly events to provide our membership with a variety of options for participation. See the Events page for more information.

Just as the Coast Guard is a small but mighty service, our club reflects that same character.  We sponsor many philanthropic projects and fundraising activities that benefit both military and civilian families, and award  academic scholarships.

What We Do

The Coast Guard Spouses' Club sponsors a variety of social and charitable activities and events throughout the year, and have standing committees that welcome participation.  Our success  depends entirely on member involvement.  Activities and committees include:
Arlington Services
The Coast Guard Arlington Ladies extend condolences on behalf of the Commandant and the Coast Guard to the family of those interred at Arlington National Cemetery.  Each Lady volunteers her time as a representative at the burials of Service members and dependents.  They meet with the family before the Chapel service and at the grave site to extend sympathies to the immediate families and next-of-kin.

Armed Forces Hostess Association
The Armed Forces Hostess Association (AFHA) is a volunteer group of military spouses from the five branches of service, dedicated to providing information about base facilities and amenities.  Based out of the Pentagon, volunteers donate time on weekdays, twice a month (or more), to answer questions, assist guests, and assemble welcome packets

Bunco Club
This club will be a welcoming group for all.  We are trying to establish this group, so if you are interested in helping us, please contact us by email.

 Fisher House
The Fisher House Foundation provides a “home away from home” for military families to be close to a loved one during a hospitalization for illness, disease, or injury.  Member volunteers prepare a variety of dishes to donate to the Fisher House guests.

Holiday Gift Project
Our Club works with the Chaplain’s office to coordinate collection of donated toys, home goods, gift cards, and other needed items to ensure a happy holiday for several area Coast Guard families.  There are many ways to contribute to this festive project, and every generous offer of service or support adds to the impact of the event.

JAFOWL, the Joint Armed Forces Spouses' Luncheon, is an annual event certainly worth marking on your calendar!  Representatives from the officers’ spouses’ clubs of the five military services (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard) form a coordinating committee to arrange a fabulous luncheon to promote and celebrate the unity of military officers’ spouses.  Past speakers include US Presidents, First Ladies, celebrities, and more! All CGSC members are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

The club publishes a monthly newsletter that keeps members informed about club news and information, monthly activities, and more.

Through a partnership with the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), the CGSC donates funds to sponsor grant assistance for deserving dependent children of Coast Guard members.  The application process is supported and administered by the MOAA Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  For  information on the eligibility requirements, or to donate to the CGSC Scholarship Fund, please contact us via email, or visit our Donate page.
Sunshine Committee
Congratulations, condolences, encouraging well-wishes, and more are managed through our Sunshine Committee.  If you know of anyone who would appreciate a note or message on behalf of our Club, please contact Yvonne Neal via email.

Zip Code Connections
Zip Code Connection groups provide an opportunity to get to know members all around the National Capital Region for fun, friendship and support. Events may include lunch at a restaurant, coffee at Starbucks or someone’s house, dinner, shopping, or going to a concert. Each Zip Code Coordinator oversees 3-4 events, September-March. Members live all around the National Capital Region and through this program, you will find several opportunities to connect with others in your area or in your area of interest.
